The tender bud of a brand new pumpkin. There is something decidedly in utero about this image. All the information is there for a big, orange pumpkin. This vine popped up where we put out our garbage. No doubt it is the product of a stray pumpkin seed.In the early morning, the flower was wide open and boldly pretty. By mid morning, when I had my camera, it was beginning to curl in on itself.
Each vein is perfect. The curious shade of orange that characterizes our calabaza pumpkins is already evident in the slightly unusual cast of the orange.
